So here I am: just stumbled out of Art School with a BA HONS degree in Painting in my late fifties and decided to do what most professional artists do: write a blog.
I am particularly interested in environmental art and during the last two years of my studies at Gray's School of Art (RGU) in Aberdeen, my practice has strongly developed in that direction. Keeping a blog will potentially play an important role in what I do because I believe that engaging with the public through art is an effective way of raising awareness about environmental aspects as well as presenting a valid path towards problem solving. Communication is key.
For an environmental artist research, conceptualisation and the process of making are of equal weight to the resulting art works. This space gives me the opportunity to provide you with an insight into my practice and the projects I am involved in.
Hi Rita - could you define 'environmental art' as I'm unsure what it actually means. Many thanks!
wonderful Rita. I am very curious to follow your blog!! All the best from Berlin, Susanne
I wish you all the success and creativity!
Look forward to the next instalments Rita.
